I've contemplated this many years in a row now. I continue to pay these dues because I know the association does a lot to stay politically active on a national level. In other words, they help protect our profession from those who would like to define Optometry for us. I see it more as what I'm putting into Optometry rather than what they provide for me (which isn't a lot).
I know the association presents a printout that shows where the money's going to every year. I guess it's the price we pay to keep optometry safe and progressing. Thanks for easing my pain.
