KERATOCONUS MAY HAVE AN INFLAMMATORY COMPONENT

Subclinical keratoconus and inflammatory molecules from tears -- Lema et al., 10.1136/bjo.2008.144253 -- British Journal of Ophthalmology:

Inflammatory mediators were consistently found in a greater degree in keratoconus patients than in normal eyes.
