LACRISERT IMPROVES SYMPTOMS IN MODERATE TO SEVERE DRY EYE PATIENTS

Improved Signs, Symptoms, and Quality of Life Associated Wit... : Eye & Contact Lens

Lacrisert is a small insert made of hydroxypropyl cellulose that is easily inserted in the lower cul-de-sac of the eye. Throughout the day the insert dissolves, adding moisture to the eye.

According to this and other studies, it significantly improves the symptoms of dry eye in about 80% of patients who try it.

According to my clinical experience, about 40% of patients like it. I tried it myself and experienced worse symptoms of irritation, dryness, burning, and blurriness. But I seem to be an exception to the rule in a lot of eye-related symptoms. I also have not tried it on a lot of patients. We do have samples for patients to try. More information can be found at www.lacrisert.com.
