Instead of borderline, IDDM, & NIDDM classifications, we should use pre-diabetes, Type 1 & Type 2.
Fasting blood glucose > 126 mg/dl, casual blood glucose > 200 mg/dl and FBS between 100-125mg/dl is pre-diabetes. FBS between 90& 99 is still risk for cardiovascular disease.
Metabolic Syndrome: obesity, increased FBS, BP, and cholesterol.
Type 1 diabetes is autoimmune and oral medications won't help. Type 2 frequently have no symptoms.
